It's hard to overstate the sheer size of Quetzalcoatlus; pterosaurs with a wingspan of 12 meters/40 feet, making it the largest known creature to roam the skies.
In this painting, I wanted to convey the size by adding somewhat familiar elements, since it can be difficult to appreciate the scale of extinct animals. I did this by adding duck-related birds around its feet and in the foreground; these were called Vegavis. I admit that they didn't co-exist in the same geographical location, but they did both live in the cretaceous period :D
